I've just managed to capture a queen, and I'm not sure what species it is. It measures roughly one inch in length, and is black. It's back end has 2 clear stripes on it. Found it in a grassy field.

I was wondering if I could keep my lasius queens in the airing cupboard. It's where the boiler of the house is kept. It's pretty warm but not boiling. Maybe 20 degrees Celsius. Just to help speed up the process.

Found this guy today. Never seen an ant like this, thought it might have been a wingless wasp.

Red, striped abdomen. About 1/4 inch long. Found in Lubbock, TX.
