			<description><![CDATA[ my new ant farm is doing well now that I made my own.  They are making tons of tunnels and seem to be thriving.  Unfortunately there is some depth to the set-up so some of the tunnels I can't see, only the entrances to them.<br><br>Anyway I noticed tonite that there were two ants playing tug of war with a part of an ants body, and another one was standing by an ant head!  I hope it was dead before they were playing with its body....<br>was this just something innocent or are they hungry for... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I went to NY City today, and wanted to visit the leafcutter colony (Atta cephalotes) in the Central Park Zoo. Late last year, I noticed that the colony was gone, and assumed that it had perished.<br><br>However, when I asked a staff (security) about it today, he said they had escaped (!)<br><br>He might have been pulling my leg, but I found the concept of an escaped leafcutter ant colony in NY City to be really cool!<br> ]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[ Ants duking it out ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ I posted this in another thread, but blackholesun prompted me to post as a new topic.<br><br>Has anyone touched on what happens when ant hills get attacked? Do the queens still fly, or just hide underground? The large group of harvester(californicus) ant hills I regularly visit is currently under attack by a large nest of Argentine ants. It's sad, the harvesters are getting destroyed and out numbered. <br><br>I was hoping they'd fly as it rained a few nights back, but I'm not so sure now.... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I'm wondering if anyone can help me to identify this ant.  It's all over our house (Indianapolis) and we're just not sure how big of a potential problem it could be.  The size is 3-4mm and they're mostly black with no other obvious characteristics - at least to an untrained eye.  (One of the pictures I took seemed to show a little red on the thorax, but I think it may have been artifactual.)<br><br>I'm trying to put a picture with this post, but I'm not sure I've totally figured out how yet.... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Hi, I have caught a fresh queen that is an orange color. She has three yellowish lines on her abdomin. She is about 1 cm. I had seen the swarm today. Flying around 4:00.I located about 7 queens in one colony. I may be wrong. I estimated a total drone count of 100. The drones were about 2 mm. 			<description><![CDATA[ I've found the tiny False Honey Ants and now am looking for more species. I've seen the larger black ants around, espeically when it rains they always seems to get into the apartment!<br><br>What other ants can I expect to find here in Southeastern Pennsylvania? And could you also tell me how to find them/where to find them? Like the black ants.. where are their colonies found?<br><br>Also - will i find any ants that live underneath bark or in tunnelled out dead tree limbs , logs, etc ? ]]></description>
