			<description><![CDATA[ This ant occurs across the northern half of the USA and possibly in southern Canada. It seems to require relatively pristine woodland-grassland edge or open
woodland habitats. It is nowhere common, so is not often encountered. I have observed three localized Missouri populations of this species apparently go
extinct during my 20 plus years here, and have encountered only a couple of others. The experience of fellow ant experts, in states ranging from Massachusetts

			<description><![CDATA[ <p>I&#39;m running out of good photos, so I&#39;ll invite you to guess the name of an ant without a photo.   Here&#39;s all you need to know:

I was visiting old stomping grounds and saw a low ant mound, about a hand&#39;s breadth across, on an ill-kept lawn. I assumed it was a fire ant mound. 
<em>Solenopsis invicta</em> is abundant in that region, as nepenthes will soon discover.  I saw some movement and picked up what I supposed was a major worker.
