Below is an image recently sent to me by a colleague (but non-ant-specialist) to confirm her ID of the specimen. She got it right. Now you give it a try and tell us why. Also, what do you think the intervals are on the measuring rule at the bottom?

This month I am visiting a country that is in its rainy season, and last week under some bright lights I spotted an enormous ant. I scooped it up into the 2 dram vial I was carrying just in case some interesting specimen presented itself. Of course I knew the genus at once, and so would you if you saw it. The beastie is 37mm long. I will post a photo sometime after I get home, but meanwhile, feel free to take a guess....

On a recent trip to Turkey, I found plenty of these ants. I have found similar ants in Niger.

New NTA Time. This little alate was collected in Apple Valley Calif. She is about 4.5 mm long. Couldnt get a good clear head shot but for the purposes of this she has 11 segmented antennae with a distinct club. I will continue to try to get a decent head shot though. Good luck

If you want to know where I found it, I will only say that about ten feet away was this large and distinctive ant, which everyone will...

Finally a new NTA, this is a little cutie. My dad recently took these shots. This ant is best described as minute. The type locality is St. Thomas

She's from the Middle East.

Here is a new NTA. I was unable to find the images I was looking for and they may have gotten eaten by the microsoft patch/update that destroyed my computer recently. However something different this time around. A few weekis back these mounds caught my eye, I had never seen anything like them in the High Desert area I live in. So out came the camera, close examination quickly got a genus Ident but the species up to now eludes me. As you can see the mounds are not as tall as the film...

Mrmacophyl is pretty busy so I'll offer up this gal as NTA 69. She's from Georgia, USA, and is about 6mm long.
