Many of you have purchased "The Inn" setup and I just found something I wanted to share. This is part of the reason I was so hopeful about this design working when working on it and something I think will show major benefits as the formicarium continues to evolve.

I walked in from lunch, and found a small number of workers on the second level with about a dozen pupae. This seems to be the only eggs they ever take up to this level, but it looks like they have moved them up there for a reason. I am sure this has a lot to do with humidity. Often when searching in the wild for ants, I will lift a rock or piece of bark and find similar situations. The more mature eggs seem to need a lower humidity and higher temperature (or both?). My guess would be that since I hydrate the lower level, and hot air rises that this would be a good indication they are using the formicaria in a more natural way. Up until recently they have always kept them down on the lower level except on a rare occasion I have found one or two pupae up top. The colony numbers are growing so it would seem the humidity is rising on average because of the increased population, or they could just simply need more room now. I plan on building smaller and larger versions of this in the near future and will also have a colony journal starting soon as well.

The website has been finalized and will be launching in the nest 1-2 days I have been told. So close! There is a lot that goes in to building a website, wow. Not a job for those with little patience.
