So I believe that this is the queen from this ID thread. I'm not positive because I have found a few other Pheidole sp. queens since then and didn't think to mark the test tubes until later. However, I found that one first and this one is the first to have workers. I found that queen on 6/4/13. Her first two workers eclosed on 7/9/13. So I have my first ever nanitics! They are very small, measuring around 1.5mm. They remind me of the Pheidole sp. (likely P. dentata) I posted in this thread based on coloration (I know, not the best indicator). However, they are considerably smaller. I know nanitics are smaller than later generation workers but can they be 50-66% of the size? I plan on feeding them soon but have seen some information about waiting a week or so or until they are pulling at the cotton. What do you guys think is best?
