Okay so Anhzor and I went out to the desert again (which I'll be making another post about) and just happened to come up on the end of an Acromyrmex versicolor mating flight that happened a little earlier that day. There were TONS of queens digging new nests all within inches of each other. We both collected about 30 each, and are trying to find some info on exactly what to keep them in, and most importantly, about their fungus. I know they take a little pellet of it with them, but what we don't know, is exactly when they drop that off, in other words, would these queens still have their fungus. It looks like they may have been digging their nests for a few hours or so, and were still in the process of digging when we found them. If anybody has any information please let us know, since we may not have much time.
