Does anyone have a photo of a male Dorymyrmex bureni? I have two male alates that I think are Dorymyrmex bureni but I can't say for certain. I keep finding the same specimen photo at every ant site I can think of. He is attached to a queen alate and it is difficult for me to judge if this is what I collected. I will post photos soon.
I collected them at a gas station two evenings back around 8:30pm in Mobile, AL. Both were trapped in an old spider web. The place was crawling with alates of a few species, but I didn't have a way to collect several alates at once, plus a Camponotus castaneus alate queen buzzed into my hair and she was my prime target after that. I wish I had brought my collection vials!! I know for certain I didn't see any Dorymyrmex queen alates but they were probably long gone. I think they usually fly right before dusk, so the males had probably been attracted to the lights after mating earlier.
Again, I will post photos soon for photo ID by those more familiar with them.
Here are two photos. Not sure why they posted counterclockwise! Sorry.
