It's been a long time since my last time I was here posting.
For about one year and a half, I had been out of ant keeping but now I returned in force.
So let's get down to business.
I caught this queen on 11-06-2015:
Pictures were taken on 12-05-2015. When I caught her she had her wings, but in one day, she removed them and laid 6 eggs. She was pretty fast.
My guess is that it's an "Formica fusca", but not sure, so I need an identification from someone whose more expert than me.
Yesterday evening I added around 7-8 cocoons from a mature "Lasius" nest. I hope she will adopt them. Fingers crossed.
I'll probably check her this evening to see how she's doing, and if everything is OK, then I'll let her rest and take care of her babies until the weekend.
Place found: Romania(Iasi) inside city.
Weather: sunny. It's strange that I found her, because last weeks there was no rain or anything. Most of days were around 30 degrees C.
If someone can tell me what(how) to use to add images directly to the journal and not links, I will surely appreciate it. Last time I knew how, but no I'm lost. The journal would look netter if pictures would be visible inside, and not using a link.
The funny part is that, even thought I had other colonies, I never had a journal for them. It seems that there had to be a first time for this too sooner or later.
Note: I intend to keep this journal alive by posting once a week but not later than one every two weeks. And also add pictures as many times as I can.
Last note: If this thread comes to an end I intend, if I don't forget, to announce it.
Edit: I managed to add the pictures inside the main thread. Added "Big pictures" in main title.
