Hello, I have caught a queen of what I believe to be some species of camponotus, namely camponotus vicinus in Ontario, Canada. I found her under a rock with 4 workers and 4 eggs which I also collected and put into a testube set up. Approximately two weeks have passed and now she stays almost completly still in the tube with her workers around her which also stay relativly still and very occasionally walk around. They stay almost touching to the water side of the test tube. She has not layed anymore eggs. Is this normal? I believe it is, and am now leaving them be while occasionally adding maple syrup in small drops to feed them, but I would like to have a more experienced opinion on the matter. Thank you in advance, Chris.
