I am having my own health issues too. I've had depression since I was about eight years old, and I somehow made it three years into a biotechnology degree before getting hit hard by it, and the symptoms haven't left yet. The school told me that I could stay at the discretion of my professors, who all gave me the boot. I am finding some stability right now, especially after coming to terms with my autism, but I'm grasping straws trying to figure out what the next step is going to be in my education/career.I hope you are doing OK as well, Antdude! I really haven't been spending enough time here. I still need to check out that ant Reddit. All of my pet ants died when I was not able to take adequate care of them, and I'm saddened and ashamed by this, but I guess now I've never been more committed to giving my newer chitinous pets the best quality of life I can manage. I have a Lasius latipes queen that is showing some promise, and I've also been able to help guide another hobbyist with Lasius claviger to the worker stage -- these two social parasites have never been raised in captivity, to the best of my knowledge. I've also been working on a database to track the nuptial flights reported in communities like this one and identified by reputable members. Because photographs are often insufficient material for identification, it's limited in its statistical value, but a modest step up from the work that MILTA and Drew have accomplished. I'm writing a code that should turn all that data into compact SVG charts. Ant enthusiasts in the cold North need something to get them through the winter.
