Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions for you all today regarding my Lasius Niger colonies.
1. 5 of my colonies are currently in test-tube setups with about 15-20 workers each. Today when feeding them I noticed a few of the colonies have pulled a lot of the cotton wall ball bung into the test-tube, making it hard to feed them as they have also placed some of the brood into this shredded cotton mess meaning when I remove the bung, the brood follows. Is this normal behaviour or does it indicate a sign of unhappiness? To warm, not enough water, to much space etc.
2. Secondly I have recently attached one of the colonies test-tube to a small Omni Nest out world to make feeding them easier and to see if they are ready to start exploring yet. This colony has 15 workers or so and I have noticed that none of them seem that interested in leaving the test-tube and exploring the out world. I have put honey in there put they don't find it because they're not exploring. Again is this normal? They have also blocked the connecting tube with shredded cotton and other debris.
Thanks in advanced for any advice.
