I'm going to try and get a S.xyloni queen today. I'm not going to keep them too long, like my last colony I kept expanding them. I'll just keep them until they outgrow their 2.5 gallon aquarium (probably only a few months anyways until they get a good amount of workers) and let them go in the planting area by my apartments...only place safe from Argentine ants. This will give them enough defense since the Argentine ants pretty much can't get to them without crossing the road and even then their isn't many Argentine ants inside the apartment complex, just mostly on the outside of the complex. The S.xyloni should dig under the road to the main area for them to expand anyway, but this is better than the Argentine ants directly attacking their nest. Also Tapinoma sessile are in this same area as well and they'll help keep the Argentine ants away.

The last colony of S.xyloni that are near me are pretty much gone (Argentine ants killed them), they only have a few feet of territory left. Not much I can do to help them, but I did surround whats left of their nest with sand so the Argentine ants have a much harder time getting to them. But they will be killed sooner or later. It will be nice when I reintroduce S.xyloni. It won't be for awhile though and I might not even be able to find a queen. I'm hoping to find a wingless queen outside the nest like shown in your pictures, will make it a lot easier.

You are lucky to still have S.xyloni near you, hopefully I'll be able to have some near me again as well in a few months. Nice pictures, by the way.
