As some of you know, I rarely get the chance to go anting in places far from the city. But this week we are vacationing in Tahoe and RIGHT OFF THE BAT
I've been treated to what appear to be some kind of camponotus. They look very much like Campo P. but those don't appear out west do they? Modoc
perhaps? I tried to get a shot of a worker, but was unprepared and they all came out blurry like this:
Then to my dismay, as we sat down to eat lunch at 9,100 feet, we were besieged by a bunch of winged and unwinged campo queens. They were all over the place. So I nabbed one and brought her back to the room. I'd like to take a snap shot of her, but she is wiley and a GREAT climber. So, I'm not sure how to get a good shot without killing her, which is NOT what I am going to do. Open to suggestions.

She didn't make it. I wish i hadn't taken her. I think the container I had to use might have even been toxic as nothing really happened other than
she never settled, persisted in trying escape and finally just conked out. My bad.
