I tried to feed them with a left over piece turkey/chicken from my sandwich, but the queens came out to play and attacked my finger!! Workers didn't even
come out (weird). I think they were trying to sting my finger (can feel a little pain during and after attacks [no marks yet]?). Either they have strong jaws
or they do have stingers, but I am not sure yet. I lost a winged queen as one fell off onto the carpet and I couldn't find her. Good luck to her.

I am seriously considering letting this colony go after I take them back home, but I don't know how well they will survive in Argentine ants'
territory.
It might be another two weeks before that happen. I have fed them my meat from sandwich, but haven't noticed if they feed on it.

I would say at least get the colony get some strong numbers before sending them out on their own! Unless you have a good isolated spot for them.
I always wanted to get a colony so successful I could establish them in my backyard XD |

I have placed their straw home above one of my PC cases so they can get used to the light. I hope janitors or anyone else don't bother them.
This
morning, I looked at them and they didn't freak out. Good.

I fed them another thin meat piece, and they don't seem to be interested in it. I wonder if they're not hungry or I am not feeding them the right food.
I can't see if I have larvae either for them to fed.

If you see no larvae that could be why they aren't eating.
You just have to wait for some larvae. My first Pheidole colony acted the same until they

I think I will take the ants home tonight and release them outside the house. They're doing fine. I forgot to remove the meat two days ago and now it's
all moldy. I can't even remove it (stuck).

I brought the colony home two nights ago from office. I didn't get a chance to let them go yet. It's way too hot and dry outside at the moment. I need
to wait for night hours and cooler temperatures. Maybe this weekend. Ants are fine. Just hanging.

I just left the straw outside near the grassy area so they will have some moistures and can hide in the wall cracks. Good luck to them and I hope they can live
out in the heat wave and Argentine ants' territory.
I will check on the straw in a few days to see if they moved out (they better).
Before I took them out, I looked at them. All three queens were happy and workers seem tiny as usual. Eggs(?) were still there. I also saw a tiny lizard near by. I scared it off.

... and I noticed there was a trail of Argentine ants next to it! I wonder if the new colony was able to escape. I wonder if they're even alive today, but
I have a bad feeling they are dead.
I don't recall Argentine ants there when I let them go.
