I bought a small plaster formicarium online, I've had it for 3 days now. Where I live, right now, it is fairly cold outside, but the room where I keep the ants gets fairly warm during the day; at night it's colder, but not excessively. These are local ants so I thought they'd be all right.
The website I got it from said to maintain a constant temperature of 20-25 C, so the first day I kept the room at 20 degrees with the air conditioning (my air conditioning does cold and heat as necessary), but condensation immediately started building up inside the formicarium glass. For the last 2 days I have turned the air conditioning off completely. I've kept cleaning the glass, but condensation keeps forming. Furthermore, black spots keep appearing in the plaster
I have tried to crack the front crystal slightly so there is ventilation, but that did not work at all.
I emailed the person I got it from, and they told me that I need to keep a constant temperature using a greenhouse. This seems a bit excessive to me.
Anyone has any ideas of what can I do?
Thank you very much in advance.
