I'm a newb to ant keeping, so the other day, I went to a store and got one of those gel farms. Here in China, they come with ants in the box, so I placed the carpenter ants that I received into the gel farm. After a couple weeks, they were very old, and very few. I decided to put the colony of Tetramorium sp. E that I found under a big brick inside, as the bottle I was containing them in was struck by a mold invasion. The carpenter ants started declaring war, and pretty soon, they were beaten into tiny chambers that the Tetramorium ants were not in. Several are dead, but the one I received apparently had a queen, as new cocoons are popping up out of nowhere. The Tetramorium ants had 3 queens originally, though I fear one was killed by a carpenter ant. The other two are settling in well, along with the 30 or so workers left. This shall be a journal for what happens.
