Last week on 05/29/11, I collected 18 Camponotus queens. Ten were Pennsylvanicus. One had died, and a second one was injured and ate her eggs the day she laid them. I let that second queen go. I have all 8 queens in the common test tubes setup, and they all have begun laying eggs within 5 days of being caught (most had eggs within 3 days of being caught).
I have ordered a macro lens and should receive it by next week. I will begin posting pictures. Currently, all the ants have eaten honey and seem to be doing well. At least two of the queens have a brood of over 10 eggs. Once I get the camera, I will take pictures, and the brood should be easier to see.
