hi, I am Josh from Shanghai. I am only 17 years old so my English is very bad. currently, i have 5 colonies of ant. Apart from some common house ants, i have a colony of Camponotus Singularis. I think that this species only lives in South East Asia, and not in North America, so you guys here might be interested.
I found this small colony about a month ago, but the colony haven't grown. currently, there is one queen, around 40 worker and 10 soldier ants. there are some eggs but i haven't seen any larvae yet. The queen is 22mm long. the soldiers are around 18-20 mm long, and 16mm for workers. I think that this is the largest ant species in China.
This is the queen, and that is the only American coin i have.
the nest that the ants live in is a round plaster nest, with a feeding area in the middle.
these are pictures of the ants eating insects
these are soldier ants (that smaller one is a worker)
here are some eggs
the actual egg pile is well protected by the ants and i cannot get a good shot, so i can only show these.
anyways, since i am from China, my online time will probably be weird. I hope i can fit in
