I tried out my new 50mm Canon macro lens today. I used it with a 31mm macro extension tube to make insect photography practical. So far it looks promising for medium sized insects and tiny flowers. I have photoshop, but I'm not really sure how to make insect and flora photos look better; any tips? I mostly tried to photograph Formica on the ground, then gave up when they wouldn't sit still. So these are mostly small blurry ants and Formica subsericea; or at least what I have been calling Formica subsericea.
Lasius neoniger, a few with a dead Tetramorium sp. E worker. These are all cropped are great deal and some brightness adjustment in normal the windows photo editor.
Formica subsericea completely unedited or cropped.
Some tiny flowers that are in my front yard.
