My Aphaenogaster cockerelli queen is rather strange. She likes to venture to the surface a lot, and often just lays her eggs on top of a small rock, only to have then dragged underground by workers. Whenever I come to feed them, she doesn't wait for workers to come and feed her; she directly investigates herself, often being one of the first ants to arrive. She always seems to be trailed by 3 of the largest ants in the colony, but I think that that is purely coincidental. Can anyone explain my queen's bold nature?
