I found this lady in Martinsville, Indiana (SW of Indianapolis) roaming around on the sidewalk at about 10:30 PM. She's big, about 10mm exclusive of antennae and legs. From what I've read, I don't think this is a queen... isn't the thorax too small? I see no evidence of her ever having wings. (Man, I should would like to find a queen something! I'm wondering if the hot, dry weather is playing havoc with some of the normal nuptial flights? The other night I dreamed I found a whole swarm of alates... but couldn't find my collecting vial.)

I have attempted to follow Fisher & Cover's Ants of N. America key, but certainly don't have much confidence in my steps, since I'm new to this and don't have access to a microscope to see the finer features. I'm thinking Formicinae subfamily, maybe of the Formica genus?
I'll post some pictures. Sorry if they're a little out of focus, it's the best my little camera can do.
Thanks for your help!
