It’s been a while since I’ve posted or even visited, so I wanted to start by saying Hi. I hope you’ve all been doing well. It feels like forever since I've been serious about keeping any ants or had much time for anything ant related. I moved late last summer and now have a larger backyard with mature trees and little privacy. I will definitely be finding some time this summer for a little backyard anting and that leads me to my question.
Does anyone have any information on how to landscape for ants? I’ve done some Googling and searching on this form. However I haven’t found much, other than how to remove/kill ants in your landscape (of course this part was only on Google).
I’ve found one or two sites with ideas on how to use native plants and make your yard more natural looking, but I haven’t really found what I’m looking for. I figure if I go for a natural look that should help a little, but the only thought I had to actively increase the number potential nest sites for ants was in put a few decent sized logs along the back fence line. If it helps any, I’m still in Cincinnati Ohio.
