Those are very impressive. There's a very high degree of professionalism in some of those nests. I wish I could make something like that.

I don't know. It probably has something to do with the fact that most of the cultures over there are more open-minded about things like ants, whereas over here in America, most people consider anything with more than four legs disgusting. (Not trying to insult Americans, I am one.) Also, myrmecology originated in this part of the world. We're obsessed with our video games and computers and TVs, whereas over there, not every one has these types of diversions, and so may turn to ants and the like for entertainment. I'll bet someone who's actually from Europe could come up with a better reason than me though. (Again, not bashing Americans, I am one. )
