antdude: I'm so glad you got to see that Beverly Hillbillies episode--my gawd, isn't that Jethro a dolt? My best memory is still the first time I saw Jethro's version of his 'antfarm' and then his double-take when his uncle pointed out that all the ants were long gone. He must've gotten the concepts behind antfarms and flea circuses confused in his tiny mind.

Thanks too for that great little Xindi poster! I'm still not watching the show proper faithfully because it continues to bore me to tears unless some cool aliens are around to spice things up, but am keeping up with the running plot well enough to already know how this whole Xindi thing is going to wind up...the humans will manage to sway the 'warmblooded' Xindi factions over into taking pity on them and will weasel their way out of trouble in the end by talk talk talking them half to death, and the nasty 'coldbloods', those reptile dudes and insectoids, will remain hostile and keep hassling our heroes. The insectoids for sure really have it in for the humans. I caught a rerun recently that had a few more shots of them, notably another conference scene in which one slammed his?/her?/its? hands down on the table and bolted up exclaiming something like "Is it the Earth ship?!?" Even I was thinking, geez, buddy, relax!, at that point...

Dr Ant, I think I saw the National Geographic programme you wrote about. Was it the one where the ants dragged the termite queen right out into the open--she looked like a huge white swollen sausage? I remember wishing they'd gone on and shown the ants trying to stuff her down one of their ant holes. Would've been a rather grotesque-looking undertaking, methinks...

But on to the main point of this post. antdude! I found a really silly sci-fi/computer game site that had a game ongoing wherein participants apparently steal/trade/sell etc. favourite sci-fi characters. They had a Star Trek: Enterprise section and the lone Xindi rep was the Xindi-Insectoid! Following are a few edited bits from that character's current record. (Don't really want to provide a link due to naughty language/pics on the same page.) Maybe it's just me, but I just find the whole idea of a Xindi-Insectoid slave, er, indentured servant, really funny...

I also very recently found an adorable 'insect crossing' desktop item, which I'd rate right up there with the 'Larvae On Board' bumper sticker for cuteness and which just so happens to feature another of my all-time favourite sci-fi insectoids and his daughter (or nymph, if you prefer). Yeah, okay, so this one's a termite, not an ant, but how many social insect-based insectoids do you ever see, let alone one that's a good guy for once? From the same animation studio that brought you the Transformers fireant character Inferno and the wasp character Waspinator. Someone at Mainframe must like those 'bugs'...:
