I don't really mind the e-mail change. But I don't think you want to do it antdude. In fact one of the changes I want is a complete removal of my e-mail address everywhere on the FAQ and it replaced with

http://www.antcam.com/mailform.html

Y and all references to rencsok@channelu.com should become http://www.antcam.com/mailform.html

This is due to spammers scanning web documents for e-mail addresses to stuff their crap into. I still have to remove my e-mail address from myriads of pages but it has to be done and will be (in time).

A couple other questions.

Minor question.

1)        I don't understand what changed in the FAQ notes to necessitate the date change?

Major question.

2)        Other questions I've dealt with over the past few years which I think need to be added to the FAQ (I get asked them routinely). I'll be scanning my chat logs
to see if there are any other ones (but I'll save that for another time).

I'm not sure I have the time for this at the moment myself (so I sympathize Dr. Ant), but am thinking it would be best to just get it out of the way. I'll probably try to address some of them referring to "The Ants" but I suspect Dr. Ant or some of the other experts on the board could whip these off.


4.13        Do ants have compound eyes? (or how do ants see?)
4.14        How can ants walk on ceilings?

4.15        What is the largest ant?
4.16        What is the smallest ant?
        (can we also list answers by continent?)

4.16        Which is the most deadly ant?
        ?? (bullet ant, siafu, army ant etc. - use common name as well as scientific)

4.17        How many ants are in a colony?
4.18        How long can an ant live without food?

Other things I was thinking of.

        (keep same but add Dr. Ant's qualifications from the forum as I'm getting really tired of fielding and having to answer this question with the link).

        One cannot begin to identify the species of ants in your new colony without more information. Ideally, it would be good to post all of the following.

1. Where collected? Country and nearest city or town on map, elevation if in a very mountainous area such as the Rockies, Alps, Himalayas, Andes, etc.

2. Habitat of collection, including nesting medium (wood, soil, leaves tied together with silk, etc.) and type of vegetation (forest, grassland, park/lawn/garden, desert).

3. Coloration, hue and pattern? Uniform? Head darker? Gaster darker? Legs lighter or darker? Any spots? Also, shininess, dullness. You get the idea...

4. Distinguishing characteristics, such as one or two segments in waist; location, length and orientation of any spines or bumps on the mid portion of the body or waist; head shape, etc.

5. Length in millimeters. Width is also helpful. NO guessing! Stretch out a dead or chilled individual or several individuals of different sizes along a millimeter ruler. 16ths of an inch will do as a poor second to millimeters.

6. Anything else distinctive, such as odor, behavior, etc. - Dr. Ant
