It looks like 2002 will be a busy year for us and I do not expect to see much of my home at all. I have come home to find that two of my Lasius niger colonies have gone into hibernation, yet the third one is still active. My fourth colony has died out as they had no queen. I have some catching up on the messages to do, but I was interested in reading Kuene's "Lasius niger Escape" message. I hope you guys have a great Xmas and an even better new year. Major Worker Ant Posts: 407 12/23/2001 5:54 AM Royal Navy PoliceAnt	Hi Kuene It would appear that my ants hibernated when the temperature dropped to around 5 degrees. When I go away from home for long periods I turn off all the electricity/heating etc in my house, so as you can imagine it must get quite cold. I can only guess at the temperature when I was away though. One of my Lasius niger colonies did not hibernate though, which I do not understand as they are in the same room as the others. I am going to get my friend to feed them while I am away (however he, like me, is a Royal Navy medic and he is due to go to sea himself soon, so I'll need to approach somebody else) Speak to you soon Myrm(Myrm@antnest.co.uk)(www.antnest.co.uk)"If only ants were the size of horses"

Tony Boothman is a 13 year old boy who I know, he is mad on ants. He suffers from Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism. As for Mighty Max, well......I'm his greatest fan!!
